Grand Muthu Oura View Beach Club: A Decade of Hotel Furniture Renovation

Publish Time: 2024-09-18     Origin: Site

A Long-Term Furniture Partnership in Albufeira, Portugal

Grand Muthu Oura View Beach Club is a beachfront resort in Albufeira, Portugal, within the Algarve region. The property offers a mix of hotel rooms, studios and apartments, and Muthu Hotels currently lists 200 apartments across its accommodation programme.

For Tongda Hospitality, this project has been very different from a typical one-time hotel furniture order.

Our cooperation with Grand Muthu Oura View Beach Club began in 2015 and has continued through several renovation phases over more than a decade.

Instead of replacing the furniture across the whole property at once, rooms have been renewed in stages.

Our furniture supply has developed alongside that programme:

Year Tongda Furniture Supply
2015 35 room sets
2021 49 room sets
2023 15 room sets
2024 45 room sets
2026 30 room sets
Total 174 room sets

This long-term relationship is one of the most meaningful hotel renovation projects in Tongda's international portfolio

A Resort Renovated in Phases

Grand Muthu Oura View Beach Club has a long operating history, and its renovation programme has also developed gradually.

Historical public information from the hotel shows that refurbishment has been carried out in phases while the property remains open. In 2015, the hotel management referred to refurbishment continuing through the winter in selected apartments. Later management responses also described a plan to renovate the apartments progressively rather than all at once.

More recent public information describes a major refurbishment programme covering rooms, bathrooms and common areas, with work scheduled in stages.

For a furniture manufacturer, this type of project requires a different approach from a new-build hotel.

The furniture programme has to follow the hotel's renovation schedule rather than the other way around.

Five Renovation Phases, One Long-Term Relationship

2015 — The First 35 Room Sets

The relationship began with the supply of furniture for 35 rooms.

At this stage, the key requirement was to provide furniture suitable for a mature beachfront resort while working within the existing room environment.

The order established the first production reference between Tongda and the hotel.

2021 — 49 Additional Room Sets

Several years later, the hotel returned to Tongda for another 49 room sets.

The scope was no longer a first-time project.

The team already had an understanding of the property's furniture requirements and could use previous experience as a reference for the next production phase.

For long-term renovation projects, this familiarity has practical value.

The project does not have to start again from zero every time another group of rooms is refurbished.

2023 — A Smaller Renovation Phase

The next phase involved 15 room sets.

Although the quantity was smaller, the manufacturing approach remained the same: furniture needed to meet the project's specific requirements while fitting naturally into an existing hospitality environment.

This is an important part of phased hotel renovation.

A smaller quantity does not necessarily mean a simpler project.

The same attention to detail is still required.

2024 — 45 Room Sets

In 2024, Tongda supplied another 45 room sets.

By this point, the cooperation had extended well beyond a single renovation cycle.

The project had become an ongoing furniture replacement programme in which previous production experience could inform new phases.

2026 — Another 30 Room Sets

The relationship continued again in 2026, with 30 additional room sets supplied by Tongda.

Across five documented phases, Tongda has now supplied 174 room sets to the resort.

The significance is not simply the cumulative number.

It is that the customer has continued to return to the same furniture manufacturer over more than ten years.

Why Phased Hotel Renovation Requires a Different Furniture Approach

A new-build hotel usually works from one coordinated furniture package.

A long-running renovation programme is less predictable.

The hotel may need to:

  • Renovate only part of the property at a time

  • Keep other rooms operating

  • Introduce updated furniture designs

  • Work with existing room dimensions

  • Produce different quantities in different years

  • Maintain a consistent overall standard

This means the supplier has to be flexible.

The goal is not to reproduce exactly the same order every year.

The goal is to understand what has already been supplied and then adapt to the requirements of the next phase.

Keeping Furniture Consistent Across Different Renovation Phases

One challenge we have found in long-term hotel renovation projects is maintaining continuity.

Furniture produced years apart may still need to work within the same overall property.

That requires attention to:

  • Dimensions

  • Materials

  • Colours

  • Veneer

  • Upholstery

  • Hardware

  • Finishing details

Natural materials can also change over time, so the supplier needs good project records and clear reference samples.

For us, consistency does not mean making every piece look artificially identical.

It means keeping the furniture within the same design language and quality standard.

Custom Hotel Furniture for Existing Rooms

Renovation projects often create constraints that are not obvious from a product catalogue.

Furniture has to fit an existing room, not a theoretical floor plan.

That may mean adjusting:

  • Width

  • Height

  • Depth

  • Storage configuration

  • Seating proportions

  • Surface finishes

Custom furniture gives the hotel more control over these details.

For a resort such as Grand Muthu Oura View Beach Club, this is particularly useful because its accommodation includes different room and apartment formats rather than one standard guestroom layout. Muthu's current room portfolio includes hotel rooms, studios, one-bedroom apartments and two-bedroom apartments.

What Long-Term Cooperation Changes for the Manufacturer

A first hotel order tells a supplier about one project.

A ten-year relationship teaches the supplier much more.

Over multiple phases, Tongda has been able to build a better understanding of:

  • The hotel's furniture expectations

  • Preferred finishes and styles

  • Previous production standards

  • How the furniture is used

  • Which details need particular attention

  • How new orders can be developed from earlier references

This reduces unnecessary repetition during future projects.

More importantly, it gives both sides a common reference.

The client knows what Tongda has delivered before.

Tongda knows what the client expects.

That makes the next renovation phase easier to coordinate.

More Than a Manufacturer

One reason long-term hotel furniture relationships continue is that the role of the supplier changes over time.

At the beginning, Tongda needs to demonstrate manufacturing capability.

Later, the client expects consistency, responsiveness and familiarity with the property.

For a renovation project, we believe the supplier should be able to move between:

Existing Furniture Reference

New Requirement

Custom Development

Production

Quality Control

without losing the connection between previous and current phases.

That is particularly important when a project is spread across several years.

Why We Value This Partnership

We are often asked what makes a customer continue working with the same furniture manufacturer.

There is no single answer.

Price matters.

Quality matters.

But in a long-running hotel renovation project, another factor becomes increasingly important:

Trust built through repeated delivery.

After the first project, the client knows whether the supplier can deliver.

After the second or third phase, the relationship becomes more efficient.

After several years, both teams understand each other's expectations much better.

We believe that is what makes a long-term hotel furniture partnership valuable.

From 35 room sets in 2015 to another 30 room sets in 2026, Tongda has continued to support the hotel's room renovation programme across five separate stages.

That makes this project different from a conventional hotel furniture case study.

The strongest result is not one finished room.

It is the fact that the same customer has continued to work with Tongda as the property evolves.

For a custom hotel furniture manufacturer, we consider that one of the clearest forms of customer recognition.
